HELMA-P, laser weapon innovation by CILAS

HIGH ENERGY LASER for MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS – POWER

  • Designed to engage on-fly UAV (class I) and asymmetric threats
  • Hard kill solution able to locate, track, identify and neutralize targets
  • Protect sensible areas, military convoys and ships
  • Safe system: equipped with a LIDAR)
  • Stealth divice: silent and invisible laser beam
  • Based on combat proven technologies

Adaptable on vehicles, ships and compatible with C2 (Command and Control) systems and BMS (Battle Management System)

HELMA-XP, the high power laser source in development

HIGH ENERGY LASER for MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS – HIGH POWER

    • Development of the laser source for military applications, available in 2027
    • Compact design laser able to quickly and precisely neutralize an agile target i.e. Rocket Artillery and Mortar (RAM) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
    • > 100 kW laser power
    • Integration on different platforms (maritime, land and air payloads)

As part of the studies on HELMA-XP, CILAS leads a European consortium called TALOS.

“Create European capabilities in Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) technologies.”

TALOS – TACTICAL ADVANCED LASER OPTICAL SYSTEM

    • TALOS is a European Consortium led by CILAS
    • Winner of the “Preparatory Action on Defense Research” (PADR) launched by the European Defence Agency (EDA)
    • Development program of a compact design High Energy Laser (HEL) able to quickly and precisely neutralize an agile target (Rocket Artillery and Mortar (RAM), UAV, Missiles, Fast Inshore Attack Craft (FIAC))
    • Collateral damages significantly minimized

The system will be integrated in different platforms: maritime, land and air payloads.

    TALOS

    • 16 Consortium members
    • 9 European countries represented
    • 3 years - Duration of the project
