To address the health crisis and revitalize the French space industry, several measures have been implemented as part of the “France Recovery” plan. Last week, the french government presented the first winners of the space component of this action plan. CILAS, a member of the COOP for “COmmunications OPtiques” (Optical Communications) project, is one of the selected companies.
The ambition of the COOP project, led by Airbus Defence and Space, is to provide future equipment and technologies for very high-speed bidirectional optical links (several hundred gigabits per second) between the ground and satellites for satellite communications missions in geostationary orbit (GEO).
Within the framework of this project, CILAS will develop a 10 W optical amplifier that will equip future onboard communication terminals. The first deliveries are expected from 2025. CILAS will also develop, at its Aubagne site specialized in optical thin films, interference filters for the FPA and HPMUX subsystems of the edge segment.
